Description
A fragment of the Der Naturen Bloeme, and encyclopedia. Illustrated with color images in frames with some use of gold. The illustrations are highly fanciful and imaginative; few resemble any real animal.
The images are: Folio 1r - lynx (chama); folio 1v - antelope, giraffe (cameleopardus), goat (capra); folio 2r - doe (capreola), cacus; folio 2v - cefusa, stag (cervus); folio 3r - chimera (cimera); folio 3v - squirrel (cyrogillus), rabbit (cuniculus), hamster (crisetus), leucrota (corocrotes); folio 4r - catoblepas (cathapelaba), demma (damma), doe (dammula), duran (duram), badger (daxus); folio 4v - elephant (elephas).
Folios 5r to 14v contain parts of Book 8 (trees), Book 10 ((medicinal herbs), Book 11 (authorities) and Book 12 (gem stones).
This is the manuscript copy designated W. It is paired with manuscript Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, Ms. germ. fol. 52 as separated parts of the same manuscript.
