Description
The German translation of the Speculum Humanae Salvationis, a theological text on the Christian story of the salvation of humanity by Christ. Its interest here is not so much for the text, but for the illustrations of the elephant, whale, ostrich, thamur and other animals found in most of the manuscripts containing this text.
The illustrations are colored pen drawings. Unlike most Speculum manuscripts which have the illustrations two per page at the top of each page column, this manuscript has two pages of single-column text followed by two pages of illustrations, with each page having two half-page images, top and bottom.
