A third digital edition of Bestiary-related books and articles is now available. This is The Caladrius And Its Legend , Sculptured Upon The Twelfth-Century Doorway Of Alne Church, Yorkshire, by George C. Druce. There are also a few more bibliography entries.

The second in a series of digital editions of Bestiary-related books and articles is now available. This is Symbolism of Animals and Birds Represented in English Church Architecture , by Arthur H. Collins, 1913.

Just a few updates and corrections.

A few more basic beast descriptions (more complete information is in preparation), a few more bibliography entries and existing entries formatted more “correctly”, a few more manuscript descriptions, the beginning of some help pages, many error corrections… You will note some new entries on the contents page; these are just place holders at the moment, […]

There is now a Search facility available, which will search all pages on this site. The “eye” symbol on the toolbar will take you directly to the search page. The Bibliography and Manuscript pages have also been updated.

The Manuscript pages have been much updated, as have the Bibliography pages. I have not yet done much with the beast descriptions, and posting of beast images will not be possible until copyright permissions have been granted.

The site is now on its own (virtual) server, instead of sharing a domain. This allows linking to individual pages, and gives me much more disk space. The Bibliography is up to about 320 items, the Manuscripts and Beasts sections have much more information. The site may soon actually be useful…
