The Central Student Library of the University of Brasilia possesses a rare copy of an illuminated manuscript [Universidade de Brasilia Biblioteca Central, Ms.02], dating from the 14th century, in its collection of rare works, known as the Livro das Aves (Book of Birds). This article aims to analyze this codex through its dialogue with the concept of art. The approach is based on a study of the material and technical aspects, and the overall creative process of the book, drawing on the field of art history. Its figures materialize the invisible, make mental images visible, and indicate the enduring presence of images in a long tradition. - [Abstract]
