The study of medieval animal epics has always given rise to the inclusion of the European tradition as a whole. As is well known, there was fierce controversy on this point about the Middle High German Reinhart Fuchs (RF) Heinrichs des glichezare, particularly with regard to its relationship to the French Roman de Renart (RdR).
