The choice of the theme of the unicorn's representation in Medieval Bestiaries was based on a combination of personal motivations and interests acquired within the scope of the Medieval Portuguese Literature course. How to treat the unicorn in the Middle Ages, and in particular in medieval literature, is a very broad topic - which would probably occupy a number of pages beyond what is intended, as well as a more in-depth investigation - it seemed correct to restrict the focus of the work, opting to explore the figuration of the unicorn in existing medieval bestiaries. The choice of such bestiaries was based on trying to obtain disparate points of view, choosing four, from different countries, in order to make it possible to make a comparison between the similarities and differences. - [Author]
