Description
The name of the media library refers to the poem "Voyelles" written by Arthur Rimbaud. Built on three levels, the 4,000 m² building offers encyclopedic and diverse collections for all audiences and across all media, as well as a digital space (digital lab and games library complemented by a selection of video games). The media library also has a room dedicated to temporary exhibitions and a 140-seat auditorium, allowing for a varied program of events (exhibitions, conferences, public readings, etc.). The Voyelles Media Library in Charleville-Mézières has more than 600 manuscripts, 117 incunabula, approximately 24,000 printed works from the 16th to 18th centuries and 19th-century study books, to which must be added some 12,000 prints, maps and plans.
