Description
The manuscript contains the final part of book III, six complete books (IV-IX) and fragments of books X-XII of the encyclopedia Liber de natura rerum of Thomas of Cantimpré. The cover of the manuscript is inscribed with the name of Albertus Magnus in a later hand; the text was formerly ascribed to Albertus Magnus. There are numerous finely painted illustrations, most small (column width or less).
The Tacuinum sanitatis as preserved in this manuscript is an incomplete version, containing only 66 of the more than 200 descriptions contained in other illustrated Tacuina. The captions or text are based on the Taqwim al-sihhah of Ibn Butlan, which was unillustrated.
Also contains De avibus nobilibus, a treatise on falconry, probably of the 12th - 13th centuries.
Illumination attributed to Martinus Opifex.
