Description
A Book of Hours, in Latin and Norman French. It has 37 historiated initials, plus numerous line endings and drolleries. On folios 73 to 81 (part of the Office of the Dead), in the lower margin, there is a series of illustrations depicting the funeral of Reynard the Fox; 17 animals, all standing on their hind legs and some wearing clerical garb and/or playing musical instruments or carrying liturgical objects, accompany the supposedly dead Reynard on his funeral bier. There are also a few other animal illustrations embedded in the text..
