Description
Contains the Latin text, with Anglo-Saxon translation, of Marvels of the East in folios 78v-87v, which includes illustrations of the monstrous human races and some animals. Also Easter charts; a map of the world (folio 56v); an astrology guide; lists of popes, bishops and emperors; Aelfric's De temporibus anni; and other texts of scientific and religious knowledge.
This codex contains a collection of texts related to timekeeping, astronomy and geography, possibly made at Canterbury in the mid-11th century, with some later additions. ... Descriptio topographica aliquot regionum, &c. in Oriente. (Lat. et. Sax.) Multa de monstris, &c. continet, haud dissimilibus iis quae memorantur apud Solinum, Ctesiam, et in interpolatis exemplaribus itinerum J. de Maundeville, &c. Imperfectus videtur hic tractatus, fabulisque plenus.
