The De proprietatibus rerum, an encyclopedia by Bartholomaeus Anglicus, in the French translation by Jean Corbechon (Livre des propriétés des choses). This is a lavishly decorated early fifteenth century copy.

The start of each book has an illustration, usually half page or larger, showing the the subjects of the book. The bird (Book 12) and animal (Book 18) books have large illustrations showing groups of birds and animals in rectangular grids.
