Description
Das Buch der Natur ("Book of Nature") by Konrad von Megenberg (1309-1374).
61 full-page water color illustrations. 14 of the illustrations appear before the start of books, and usually show several animals or plants in front of a landscape background, described in the following text. The remaining 47 illustrations appear before chapters and usually show the creatures in front of trees or buildings in human company. The illustrations also show everyday events, as for instance hunting or gardening or rural work. Almost all illustrations include elements of landscape representation, such as trees, rocks, castles or water.
The Bastarda text is of the same hand as in the Hague, KB, 76 E 1. Probably from the workshop of Diebolt Lauber.
