Le Roman de Renart: secular romance, in French verse; written and decorated in northern France in the third quarter of the 15th century. Written in brown ink by a single scribe; probably was copied from a manuscript now in the British Library (Additional MS 15229). Decoration: 15 initials in red and blue with penwork ornament; numerous smaller penwork initials to indicate paragraphs. The illumination of M.932 is unfinished. Spaces have been provided for 14 miniatures, but these were never executed. - [Morgan Library catalog]
