The lady explains to Richard why God created Eve out of better material than he used for Adam. When god created Adam out of earth he also created the first woman out of earth, but she did not please Adam so he killed her. God then made Eve from Adam's rib, so that though she was made from a better material than Adam she was also made from Adam, so it was right that she should be obedient to him. Richard does not use this argument, which the lady points out to him. [From the lady's response to the Bestiaire d'amour]
