Beast

Sources : Capa

Thomas of Cantimpré [circa 1200-1272 CE] (Liber de natura rerum, Fish 7.28): A capa is a marine animal from the genus of snails. Its shell is almost a cubit in size, a little oblong; Its shell, filed and polished on the outside, is transparent like a pearl, from which vessels are made for drinking wine. On one side of these shells, the animal has a tuft of wool, which pulls out and brings out the pus from sores. An abundance of these shells is found in Greece. - [Badke translation/paraphrase]
