Sources : Capitones
Thomas of Cantimpré [circa 1200-1272 CE] (Liber de natura rerum, Fish 7.26): The capitones are fishes of the sea about three cubits long. They have large heads, but very small and narrow tails, thereby signifying those who, having taken the spirit, are consumed by the flesh. The flesh of these fishes is very palatable, but too indigestible; whence they excite fevers. They have red spots, and very sharp fins on the back. - [Badke translation/paraphrase]
