A serpent that causes blood to pour out of its victim
General Attributes
The asfodius is a serpent colored like sand, and is speckled all over with black an white spots. It makes a rustling noise when it moves. Its bite causes all bodily orifices to open and pour out blood.
The asfodius appears only in the De animalibus of Albertus Magnus, where he also describes the sabryn, a serpent almost identical to the asfodius.
