General Attributes
The nase (as nasus) appears only in the De animalibus of Albertus Magnus, where it is said to be a fish of the Danube River, and to have a bulky snout.
Reality
The nase (Chondrostoma nasus) is found in rivers draining into the Black Sea, including the Danube. It has relatively sharp lower lip.
