Pungitivus
Latin name: | Pungitivus |
Other names: | Pungicius, Pungitius |
Category: | Fish |
A stinging fish that generates other fish
General Attributes
The pungitivus is found in some medieval encyclopedias. It is called the "stinging fish" because it stings (pungo) with its thorns. Some say it reproduces without producing eggs, and as proof they say that if a new pond is dug with no fish in it, the pungitivus is found in it the first year.
