A sea fish that drinks fresh water when it is ill
General Attributes
The testeum is found in some medieval encyclopedias. It has a thick skin (or shell) that prevents heat escaping through perspiration, making it ill. To recover it drinks fresh water, which causes pores to form through which it can sweat, and healed, it returns to salt water.
This animal may be the sea turtle, but may also be a bivalve sea mollusk.
