General Attributes
The cornica is found in some medieval encyclopedias. It is a large bird with few feathers for the size of its body. Its lungs are large and full of blood and are similar those of a cow.
Reality
This bird may be the hornbill, or possibly the cassowary, a specimen of which was brought from India to Alexandria around 20 BCE [Kinzelbach, 2012, page 30].
