The reindeer is found in some medieval encyclopedias. It is an animal that lives in Norway. It is very strong in body and excellent in flight. It has three rows of horns on its head that look like bushes. It has two horns larger than the others in the same place the stag does, but the reindeer's horns are larger and stronger. It has two more horns right in the middle of the head, broad and surrounded by many branches, but short.

The parandrus and the tragelaphus are also sometimes identified as the reindeer.
