General Attributes
The plover is found in some medieval encyclopedias. It has feathers that are variously golden yellow, black and white. They are said to live on air only, the proof of this being that no food is ever found in their stomachs. This idea is disputed by some authors. To catch them, men throw leaded sticks into the air, frightening the birds into landing in nets that are spread out below.
